The Art of Enough
You don't have to become someone extraordinary to be worthy of an ordinary, beautiful life.
Somewhere between who we are and who we think we should be, we can forget something rather important.
“You were always enough.”
The Art of Enough
We spend so much of our lives trying to become a better version of ourselves. More successful. More confident. More organised. More everything. But what if the person we are today is already worthy of kindness, happiness and belonging? Perhaps the art of enough begins when we stop measuring ourselves against who we think we should be.
The Pressure to Be More
There's always another goal, another expectation, another version of ourselves we're encouraged to become.
Beyond What We Do
Our achievements, responsibilities and productivity are only small pieces of who we are.
A Little More You
Authenticity begins when we give ourselves permission to be imperfect, curious and wonderfully human.
Here I am. Still growing. Still learning. Already enough.

BEING YOU
THE ART OF ENOUGH
What if you already are?
Somewhere along the way, we began believing we needed to be more. More successful, more confident, more organised. More everything. But perhaps the most beautiful thing we can become is simply ourselves. We live in a world that constantly encourages us to improve. There are goals to achieve, habits to master, expectations to meet and endless reminders of who we could become if we just tried a little harder. And while there's nothing wrong with wanting to grow, sometimes all that striving can leave us feeling as though who we are today isn't quite enough. We forget that our worth isn't measured by our productivity, our achievements or how perfectly we manage our lives. We're allowed to have unfinished projects, messy kitchens, uncertain plans and days when our greatest accomplishment is simply getting through the afternoon. We're allowed to change our minds, take a different path, make mistakes and begin again. And we're allowed to enjoy who we are right now, even while we're still figuring things out. Being enough doesn't mean we've stopped growing. It means we can grow from a place of curiosity rather than criticism. We can dream of something different without believing there's something wrong with the person we are today. Because beneath all the expectations, responsibilities and things we think we should be, there's a wonderfully imperfect human being who deserves a little kindness. And perhaps the art of enough begins with a simple thought: I can be a work in progress and still be worthy of a beautiful life.

The Never-Ending To-Do List of Being Human
"We're allowed to have unfinished projects, messy kitchens, uncertain plans and days when our greatest achievement is simply getting through the afternoon."
There's a peculiar pressure in modern life to turn ourselves into ongoing improvement projects.
We should be healthier, happier, more productive, more adventurous and somehow find time to keep the house tidy.
Even rest can become something we're expected to do properly.
But being human isn't a performance review.
We're allowed to have unfinished projects, messy kitchens, uncertain plans and days when our greatest achievement is simply getting through the afternoon.
A meaningful life isn't measured by how many boxes we've ticked.
Sometimes, it's found in the moments that never make it onto a list.
You don't have to achieve something today to deserve a little peace.

You Are More Than What You Do
It's easy to introduce ourselves through our roles.
Our jobs. Our responsibilities. The things we create, achieve or do for others.
And while those things can be important, they aren't the whole story.
There's also the person who laughs at ridiculous jokes, notices interesting clouds, loves a particular song or gets completely absorbed in something simply because it brings them joy.
The person who exists when nobody needs anything from them.
That person matters, too.
You don't have to be useful every moment to have value.
And you don't have to prove your worth by how much you give, accomplish or hold together.
You are a whole person, not a collection of accomplishments.

Did you know?
You can appreciate who you are today while still being curious about who you might become tomorrow.

A Little More You, A Little Less Should
Imagine what might happen if we loosened our grip on all the things we think we should be.
Perhaps we'd wear the colourful shirt.
Try the hobby we're not particularly good at.
Say no without writing a three-paragraph explanation.
Or spend an afternoon doing something that serves absolutely no purpose beyond making us smile.
Being enough doesn't mean giving up on growing.
We can still change, learn, dream and discover new parts of ourselves.
But perhaps we can do those things from a place of curiosity rather than criticism.
We don't need to become completely different people.
Sometimes, we simply need a little more room to be ourselves.
Being a work in progress doesn't make you any less worthy today.

You can be proud of how far you've come without having everything figured out.
Gentle Reminder
Who am I when I'm not trying to meet anyone else's expectations?
Write whatever comes to mind. There are no right answers.
Journal Prompt

Think of one thing you feel you should be doing.
Is it something you truly want, or something you've come to believe is expected of you?
Pause & Reflect

Wear the bright colours.
Make the messy art.
Sing badly in the kitchen.
Be wonderfully, imperfectly you.

YOUR TONIC FOR TODAY
Give Yourself Permission to Be Enough
Find a quiet moment and think of one expectation you've been carrying around.
Something you feel you should be doing, achieving or becoming.
Ask yourself gently:
Is this expectation helping me grow, or simply making me feel that who I am isn't enough?
You don't have to change anything today.
Just notice.
And perhaps remind yourself:
“I can be a work in progress and still be worthy of a beautiful life.”
